2019 AFCON MATCH REPORT: Guinea Bissau 0-2 Ghana – Black Stars beat Guinea Bissau to qualify for round of 16

Coach Kwesi Appiah’s side have booked themselves a ticket to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 after recording their first victory over Guinea Bissau on Tuesday afternoon.

Second half goals from Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey helped Ghana to inflict a 2-0 defeat on Guinea Bissau in their final Group F match at the New Suez Stadium.
The Black Stars dominated the first departmnt of the match but failed to find the back of the net as it ended in a scoreless draw.
On the 17th minute, Mubarak Wakaso tried his luck but his shot from outside the box was blocked by the defense of Guinea Bissau.
A minute later, Piqueti’s powerful drive was saved by goalkeeper Richard Ofori as Samuel Owusu’s shot on the 20th minute went wide.
Samuel Owusu and Kwabena Owusu kept tormenting the wing backs of Guinea Bissau but their final delivery to the forwards were blocked.
The Black Stars came close from scoring on the 36th minute but Jordan Ayew’s audacious strike was denied by the woodwork.
A late header from CD Leganes young attacker Kwabena Owusu went wide as the first half ended in a 0-0 draw.
Back from the break, the senior national team of Ghana gained possession to open the score after one minute.
Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew fetched the opener with a brilliant finish on the 46th minute after utilizing a pass from Baba Rahman.
Captain Andre Ayew and Thomas Partey tried doubling the score before the hour mark with long range shots but their efforts went wide.
Midfield dynamo Afriyie Acquah was introduced to replace Kwabena Owusu on the 66th minute of the game.
Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey scored from a close range on the 72th minute of the game after connecting a pass from Baba Rahman.
In the final fifteen minutes, Caleb Ekuban and Kwadwo Asamoah came on to replace Thomas Partey and  Samuel Owusu respectively.
Ghana ended the match in a 2-0 victory over their West African counterparts in their final Group game at the Suez Stadium.
Elsewhere, Cameroon where have also qualified to the next round of the tournament after sharing spoils with Benin at the Ismailia Stadium.
