AFCON Opponent Watch: Benin honor Sessegnon

The Beninois Football Association have honored skipper Stephane Sessegnon for his immense contribution to the national team.

The Squirrels are currently in Morocco preparing for the 2019 AFCON in Egypt and they appreciated the effort of Sessegnon in the team by bestowing a “legend” status on him.

Sessegnon 35, made his Benin debut on  June 6, 2004 against Cameroon and has gone on to play 73 international games scoring 24 goals.

“It has been fifteen years of great service from Sessegnon to the national team and is good we have to give him the recognition ahead of the AFCON.” A statement from the Beninois FA read.

The Genclirbirligi playmaker will be vital for Benin if they are to make it to the second round of the 2019 AFCON from a Group which also includes Ghana, Cameroon and Guinea Bissau.
