A Former Power Minister, Dr Kwabena Donkor says it is too early to access the performance of the current Energy Minister, Mr Peter Amewu.
To Dr Donkor, working at the Energy Ministry is one of the difficult portfolios any politician could handle in Ghana.
He said “I remember when I was appointed the Energy Minister a friend of mine asked me, ‘do you think John Dramani Mahama likes you before giving you this portfolio’?”
Speaking to the media, Dr Donkor said it takes a lot of work for any minister in that sector to succeed.
“It is too early to access Peter Amewu’s term of office, but a statement attributed to him concerning the stealing of the GRIDCo pylons was not on, because that was not the first time such an issue had happened.
“Which saboteurs will steal from a GRIDCo office where the possibility of being caught is high?” he queried.
“We have our assets being vandalised for so many reasons, but for you to add politics, it is absolutely not right. Let’s be careful how we throw political mud around. He needs to be circumspect unless he has evidence,” he added.
“Let’s be careful how we throw political mud around. We need to de-emphasise politics and emphasise national building,” he advised.
