The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has called off the much-anticipated President’s Cup clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko. The game has been rescheduled for Sunday, December 22 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. This was announced in a statement signed by the GHALCA Chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo.
“Following widespread consultation with principal stakeholders, GHALCA has decided to reschedule the match for Kumasi to serve as a precursor to the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season. It was planned for the game to be played on Sunday, December 15 at the Accra Sports Stadium. This is the second time the match has been called off.
The 2019 President Cup encounter between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak was first called off in September due to heavy rains in Kumasi. The heavy downpour which pounded for several hours before the kickoff rendered the Baba Yara Stadium pitch soggy and unplayable. Organizers (GHALCA) initially allowed the game to start after inspecting the pitch but called it off after 10 minutes with the scoreline goalless.
